Simplicity v simplification
Simplicity is what I often strive for. Simplification is often the path taken. But often not how I arrive there.
It’s like a driveway covered in a foot of wet slushy snow. Simplification shovelling away. Rarely, I’ll be able get to a clean driveway. Often I’ll be left with hardpacked tire tracks or more snow covering up what I’ve shovelled. Simplicity, on the other hand, is what a natural melt does… some warm air, sun, or rain and away it goes. Effortlessly. Completely.
Simplification is what I work on and looks like writing, rewriting, and agonizing over words.
Simplicity is what I’m searching for. Most often it’s found running. Sometimes it’s found driving, reading, or in conversation.
