A day of the mundane
Today is a day of the mundane.
I used to love working with numbers - which is probably why I still handle my accounting for anything I startup. But increasingly it’s not giving me the returns it used to. Sure there’s the satisfaction when I get the numbers up to date and get to see where everything stands - sometimes not a fun thing to see in startup mode - but I’ve done it enough that I seem to have a good running sense of where I’m at and the patterns of what’s happening.
It’s similar with building out the financial models. I still have some fun there but they wear thin once I’ve sorted out the levers and dynamics of the model I’m working on in the moment. Tweaking scenarios and increasing granularity isn’t getting me any further, and that just takes the fun out.
That said, it *needs* to be done to be kept fresh - or so say those voices in my head.
And so, today is a day of the mundane.
